NBA News: Russell Westbrook Will Sign Three-Year $85 Million Deal

The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news via Twitter earlier this evening that Oklahoma City Thunder’s Russell Westbrook is in serious contract renegotiation talk that will keep him in OKC until 2019 on a possible three-year, $85 million-plus maximum contract.

As of now, Westbrook is set to become a unrestricted free agent in 2017 and with the departure of Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors, many teams have their eye on signing the coveted guard.

According to sources, Westbrook has officially agreed to these terms and will be in a Thunder jersey for another three years. The renegotiation boosts Westbrook’s salary from $17.8 million to $26.5 million in the 2017-18 season and then to $30.6 million in the third year.

Durant created an abundance of turmoil in OKC when he departed over the offseason to join Stephen Curry and the fatal Warriors in Oakland, seemingly leaving the Thunder crippled and Westbrook disgruntled.
